Introduction of Hebei Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology

 

       Hebei Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology was founded in 1956. It has been successively run schools in Chengde, Shijiazhuang, Baoding, Handan, and other places. It is now located in downtown Xingtai city, near the beautiful Taihang Mountain in the west. The Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau expressway, Xingheng expressway and Xingfen expressway run through the city. Guo Moruo twice wrote the school's name. In April 2003, the people's government of Hebei province approved the university to be upgraded to an ordinary university and renamed as "Hebei Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology".

 

       The college is a state - run regular college affiliated to the education department of Hebei province, and Hebei province demonstration higher vocational colleges, the national mechanical and electrical industry backbone colleges, the national mechanical industry university-enterprise cooperation and talent training excellent vocational colleges, Hebei province and Xingtai city equipment manufacturing profession education group lead unit, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region modern manufacturing industry deputy unit, the higher vocational colleges professional backbone teachers national training project base.

 

       In 2014, the Institute was approved by the provincial department of education and jointly established "Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Xingtai College" with Xingtai College and Xingtai equipment manufacturing industry association, filling the gap of cultivating applied mechanical and electrical majors of undergraduate degree in Xingtai city. Since then, the college has entered the ranks of cultivating applied technology undergraduate talents, laying a good foundation for the mutual connection of the rising channels between junior college and graduate school.

         The college covers an area of nearly 800 mu of land, with fixed assets of 726 million yuan. The college, with more than 12,000 students, offers 41 majors, including mechanical manufacturing and automation, computerized numerical control technology, electrical automation technology, unmanned aerial vehicle application technology, industrial robot technology, automobile testing and maintenance technology, welding technology and automation, architectural engineering technology, software technology, accounting, leisure sports, etc. Among them, there are 5 professional education key construction majors supported by central finance, 3 characteristic majors in the national mechanical industry, 2 demonstration majors in Hebei province, and 2 unified demonstration majors of education industry standard in Hebei province. It has formed a school-running pattern in which equipment manufacturing group is the leading one and related majors are supported by "engineering majors and both literature and management".

 

       The Institute owns the national training bases of numerical control technology for urgently-needed skilled personnel, national electrician model electronics and automation technology professional vocational education training base,  the central financial support of mechanical manufacturing and automation professional training base, central fiscal support of automobile electronic technology professional vocational education training base, professional ability of the national information technology training center and training network of colleges and universities in Hebei province metal materials processing and digital molding application technology research and development center. It has built 83 campus practice where about 600 students can simultaneously carry out campus practice on engineering, benching, welding, casting, mould processing and other major’s practical training; it also has 208 off-campus training and production and learning cooperation bases; it has a national education training base, ATA franchise authorized testing centre, national manufacturing information-based training center 3D education training base and etc. which can train and identify professional skills for 36 kinds of work. 

 

       The college has more than 600 faculty and staff members, including 21 full - time professors, 115 associate professors, 270 double-qualified teachers, and 356 teachers who hold master degree. There are 5 Hebei scientific and technological achievements evaluation experts, 11 national machinery industry professional guidance committee, 15 m above the provincial level in the education teaching research association, formed the excellent quality, reasonable teachers structure, education system, in the national machinery industry in Hebei province higher vocational education system has great influence in the education teaching reform ,which forms the faculty with excellent quality and reasonable structure and has a great influence on the education system of the national machinery industry and the education reform of the higher vocational education system in Hebei Province.

 

        The Institute has continuously deepened the reform of education, and actively explored and practiced the talents training model of “combination of vocational school and enterprise, combination of learning and practice, double training in virtue and skill” to meet the needs of regional economic development. The Institute lays emphasis on international education communication and cooperation, and has established friendly cooperative relations with lots of universities of America, Germany, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, the South Korea, Malaysia, and other countries. In recent years, 224 books (textbooks) and 1156 papers have been published; One item of National Education Science "12th Five-Year Plan" Project, 58 provincial-level projects and 257 municipal projects have been approved; 123 patents were granted, and 226 achievement awards were received at various levels. Students received 1 international award, 16 national awards, 235 provincial awards, and 170 municipal awards in various skill competitions. The quality of the talents training of the Institute has been widely praised by the industry and society. Since its foundation, it has cultivated more than 60,000 specialized technical talents and management talents for the society. The Institute has offered technical training and technical services for enterprises, and created direct economic benefits which added up to more than 600 million yuan. 

 

       The foreign students’ apartment will be located in the northwest corner, covering an area of 31300 square meters. The building is a 12-12-layer construction, and it mainly includes hardcover standard rooms with space for two people. The rooms are all equipped with central air conditioning, toilets and showers. The foreign students’ apartment has fast-food restaurants, reading rooms, coffee shops, gyms, billiards rooms, convenience stores, public laundry rooms, and underground parking facilities, which greatly meets the daily needs of the students.
